Our Story

My husband surprised me with the most adorable English Lab as an early Christmas present in 2022. From the moment I saw him, he brought a sense of peace I didn't even realize I was missing.

As I navigated difficult moments in my own life, Finn became more than a pet. He was emotional support when I felt overwhelmed, a source of calm when anxiety crept in, and a reminder that unconditional love can make the hardest days feel manageable. He changed my life in ways I never expected.

We knew that if one dog could make such a profound difference for me, dogs could help others too. And with the growing mental health challenges across the US, we felt called to do something meaningful. That's how Finn's Friends was born.

Our nonprofit exists because we believe no one should feel alone. Sometimes, hope and healing comes on four paws, with a wagging tail and a gentle nudge that says, "I'm here."

Sir Finland of Long Meadow

Finland, Finn, Bubber Do, Finny, Foofer Nugget... whichever name you choose, Finn is the heart behind Finn's Friends. We named him Finland as a way of honoring my Finnish heritage. Long Meadow is Old English for our last name, Langley. Sweet, intuitive, and endlessly loving, Finn has a natural ability to sense when someone needs comfort. Through him, we've learned firsthand the incredible healing power of a pet, and the difference one dog's devotion can make.

Meet the Founders

We're Jane and Russ Langley, co-founders of Finn's Friends. Our story began in 1992 when we first met and then worked together, not knowing life would bring us back to each other three decades later. We reconnected in 2022 and quickly realized we were exactly what the other needed. We became engaged eight months later and married just four months after that.

We had both navigated tough chapters in life, struggling at times with anxiety and depression, but ultimately finding strength in our journey forward. We helped heal each other, and Finn played a profound role in restoring hope and comfort in our lives. Now, we are committed to sharing that same gift with others and carrying Finn’s legacy forward through our nonprofit.
